Isolation:
I really enjoyed the style of this documentary, it focuses heavily on the main issues of dealing with depression and helps people to relate to other peoples experiences. The way in which the documentary was shot was really effective how it creates quite an emotional sense towards the story. They often use time lapses which reiterates the powerful emotions of the documentary. Often the cuts are very slow between each shot which reinforces the point how some peoples life slows down quickly while dealing with depression. We do not see anyone talking straight into the camera, but voice overs are consistently present of those who are telling their story. Although the whole idea behind the documentary is rather simplistic, it creates a powerful and emotive impact upon the spectator. Although it hides peoples identity, I feel as though the documentary could of benefited from having an actor talking directly to the camera about their experiences with depression.
This is Our Youth: Walking Backwards:
This documentary seemed like a mockery towards how young people will follow anything that appears to be "cool." I personally didn't like this advert as it didn't keep me engage and had nothing that was of much interest. The style of this advert, clearly set out to be comical, as we see people walking backwards into things because of an apparent trend. There was nothing special in the way how the documentary was shot or edited. They only interesting thing about this documentary was some of the comedy and how they tied in a music video in at the beginning of the documentary.
Sleeping Rough:
I liked this documentary as it shows the true reality of being homeless, and what was a nice touch to the documentary was that the interviewer spent a night sleeping rough to get the full experience of what it is truly like. I also like the way how they interview two men who are homeless and express their stories to the spectator. The overall style of the documentary focuses heavily on the burning issues of living rough. The camera work was quite simplistic but worked really well as it added to the realism of the whole experience, when the interviewer experienced sleeping rough the camera work was very ordinary, but added to the realism of the whole documentary. Overall, the whole documentary was very simplistic but was very powerful and effective to watch.
