Synopsis
The main concept behind the music video is to tell a story about an everyday battle with depression and other mental health issues, something that is ever present in today's society. It shows the the pulling down and the battle and sufferer has to face each and everyday as the voices inside of their heads become stronger and more brutal. Eventually there becomes a time when they just give up and accept the voices will never leave them. Anyone who has suffered from a mental illness will be able to relate to this video as it paints a clear depiction of how it feels to be weighed down by the voices. I have shown the voices inside the girl's head as a figure dressed in all black, a colour commonly associated with depression, who attempts to make the battle even more difficult for the girl to try and win. The video will begin with the girl sitting alone on an armchair, where she is already beginning to feel that uphill struggle, as the depression figure comes from behind her and tries to engulf her in the arms, an attempt to try and take over her mind, mentally and physically. I aim to create a small battle sequence with the pair, as the figure attempts to aggressively place the same mask she is wearing on the girl. A mirror will also be present in the music video and I aim to create some visually pleasing shots using this mirror, which will hopefully represent depression always lingering in the background and preventing you from living your normal everyday life. The video will end with the girl seeing a light to the left of the stage, believing this may be her escape route from her demons, but alas, the light will go off and the figure will continue to follow the girl and continue to take over her life. This is a very unnerving subject matter to deal with, considering it is so raw in today's society, so I want to go about this portraying depression in a light which people can relate to and that matches with the song also.
